Choosing the Right Wheel

Chinchillas that are 6 months or older need to have regular exercise. One of the best and easiest ways to accomplish this by putting a wheel or saucer in their cage. Some guidelines to follow are:

Guidelines

• No plastic wheels/saucers
• A minimum of 14" diameter
• A minimum of 4" of running surface for a wheel.
• Quietness - your chinchilla will put thousands of miles on their wheel, and it will be in the middle of the night! Consider how quiet the wheel turns.
• With wheels, the old adage "you get what you pay for" is absolutely true!
