It is extremely important to be sure your chinchilla has access to a variety of chewing options. They need to chew to wear down their ever growing teeth. Giving them a variety allows them to pick from what sounds good today 😉 I mean, we don't eat the same thing every day, so why should they! The following are safe options for chewing:
apple arbutus ash aspen bamboo birch black currant blackberry blueberry cholla coconut shells (remove stringy fiber) cottomwood crab apple dogwood gooseberry grapevine grape hawthorne hazelnut kiwi |
linden madrona magnolia manzanita medlar mulberry palm leaf pear pecan pine, kiln dried (KD) poplar quince rose wood seagrass sycamore willow (not white) yucca
lava stone pumice stone |
